COSI and Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition *Giveaway*

Have you been to COSI (Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio)?  The kids and I took our first trip there last month and loved it.

Not only did we get to check out the cool permanent exhibits like Space, Ocean, WOSU, and Gadgets, but we got a preliminary viewing of the new Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition exhibit!

Here's what COSI has to say about this new travelling exhibit:
"Can you huff, puff and blow a house in? Does toast always tend to land butter-side down? Does running in the rain get you less wet than walking through it? Can you really make a canoe out of duct tape? Spend a day as a MythBuster to uncover the truth behind the myths for yourself. And while you’re at it, watch live demonstrations by COSI's MythBusting facilitators and peruse props and gadgets from the show.

MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition comes straight from Discovery Channel's Emmy®-nominated series, MythBusters, where wild hypotheses are put to the test in wildly entertaining experiments. MythBuster's Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, along with co-hosts, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara and Kari Byron, combine their expertise in special effects to relentlessly test every myth within busting distance."

My kids loved checking out all of the exhibits and watching live shows...we got to watch a mom test if her reflexes were faster than a paintball gun---they weren't.  They tried to build a 'house' that would withstand strong winds---they did.  And, they determined whether or not you stay drier running or walking through rain---running.

Not only did they love the Mythbusters exhibit, but they had fun in the permanent displays as well.  They sat inside a submarine (and on a space shuttle toilet), watched kids ride a unicycle across a tightrope and got to be on tv at WOSU.

COSI is a fun, hands on museum that your kids will enjoy and learn something without realizing it.
If you would like to check out Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition, you may do so until September 2nd.  Tickets for this special exhibit have to be purchased in addition to regular museum tickets.

But, guess what?

I have a give away!

COSI is giving a family four pack of tickets (good until Sept 2, 2013) to COSI and the Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition to one lucky I'm Living the Good Life reader.

To enter, you must be 18 years of age.  You have two chances to enter.  Please leave your email address with your entry comment.  Please leave two different comments as your two entries.  Comments should be made on this blog post.  A winner will be chosen on Friday August 2nd at 10:00pm.  The winner has 48 hours to respond or another will be chosen.

Entry #1:  Leave a comment telling me what myth you would like tested.  Would you like to see if you could fly away with the wind using an umbrella?  How about finding out which saves the most gas--driving with your window down or using the air conditioning?

Entry #2:  Leave a comment telling me if you have been to COSI before.  If you've been, what is your favorite exhibit?  If you haven't been, tell me what would you like to see the most?

Good luck!

My family and I were given tickets to visit COSI and Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition in exchange for this giveaway.

  5. I think my kids would enjoy the toast falling butter-side down myth - I would enjoy letting them see it somewhere where I'm not the one cleaning up the mess! :) konaprice@aol.com

  6. I've been to COSI years and years and years ago, perhaps 30 years ago? At the time I remember a big room with lots of "hands-on" exhibits. For a little kid at the time who was always told to stop touching things, the fact that there was a place where you were encouraged to explore and touch and experiment was just nirvana. konaprice@aol.com

  11. Honestly, I'd love to see any of the myths tested. I think it's so incredibly cool to watch things become fact or fiction right before our very eyes! I love how it also challenges children to not just accept everything they hear as truth, but to be willing to test it!

  13. I have been to COSI before but it has been a long time. We used to go with Girl Scouts all the time and do the overnight thing. It has been years but I do remember being able to lift a car and ride a bike on a rope. And I remember the static machine that would make your hair all wacky. Wow, so many memories of that place, I would love to take my kids now and make new ones.

  28. Is running better than walking to keep dry in the rain? I always wondered about this. I like to run to get out of the rain but I seem to be just as wet as if I walked.
