Tire Discounter *Giveaway*

Do you love spending time getting your vehicle serviced like I do?  Do you enjoy the overwhelming smell of rubber tires and sounds of wrenches clinking against concrete?  Do you love sitting in the waiting room while your car gets an oil change?

Actually, I hate all of that.

Luckily, I do love the managers at our local shop who service our cars, so that's a plus.  I like them so much I bring them sweet tea from McDonalds...true story.  We are there a lot.  They are good to us.

So, the other day, I felt like I cheated on them a little.  I got the chance to visit the new Tire Discounters "Store of the Future" in Colerain Township.  It was pretty fantastic.  They've made a lot of changes based on their biggest client-base...women!  Sixty percent of their customers are women. After a two year journey to determine how to better design their stores with women in mind, they made a lot of changes.

  • Energy efficient glass used in the nearly all glass front store to reduce heat.
  • Recycled rubber materials in flooring and landscaping
  • LED lighting and reflective roofing
  • Digital in-store presentations on the nice flat screen tvs will keep you up to date as to where your car is in line
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Refreshment bar (I enjoyed several Ferrerro Rocher candies during my short wait)
  • Variety of television programming
  • Child's play area and family restrooms with diaper changing stations

  • Tire Discounters was nice enough to provide one lucky I'm Living the Good Life reader with a $25 gift card to use in their store.

    Here's how to enter:

Entry #1:  Share, in a comment in this blog post, how you'd use a $25 gift card.

Entry #2:  Tell me your best car repair story.  Make it short!  Did you get a great deal?  Did you learn something new?  Did you meet your spouse there and fall in love?

Make sure you leave your email address in the comment.  Leave your comment in this blog post.  A winner will be drawn using www.random.org on Tuesday May 28th at 10:00pm.  The winner will be emailed and has 24 hours to respond or another with be picked.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

    2. #1: I'd use a $25 gift certificate towards a new set of back tires, which are currently bald :(

#2: My best repair story, well...

About 4 years back I used to be a moderator of the local Motorcycle forum. One of the members posted up that he had a free car to the first person who would post a reply. I knew that the owner of the site had met this man personally so I quickly replied thinking "Well, I'm sure it's a busted up old rust bucket, but who can replace a free car?"

Less than a week later my best friend and I drove to Bullet county to tow it home. I still haven't seen the car or even KNEW what it was. It was free so I didn't even ask. When we showed up it was a white Sunfire with barely a scratch. Apparently the owner had broken a sparkplug off in the engine and got fed up with the repair. His wife told him to just give it away and when they sold their house she's left him buy a new one.

It took a week but I removed the head, rethreaded the hole the plug stripped out, and put her all back together. To this day it's my primary car. A transmission swap last fall was all I've had to do to it (and that was after putting 40,000 miles on it delivering pizzas).

    4. My daughter's car would stop every now and then and we didn't know why. The repair person was very honest and it was just a loose wire. We were only charged for just him seeing what the problem was instead of being charged an outrageous price.

    9. My best car repair story is the time that I had to go have my tire plugged because I had gotten a nail or screw in it. The bad part is I had to wait a long time because they were so busy! The GOOD part was they plugged the tire for free because I had to wait so long! That may not seem like much but I was really struggling at the time so it meant a lot to me!
