Cincinnati: Our City, Our Story *Children's Book Giveaway* GIVEAWAY CLOSED

This giveaway is now closed.  Congratulations to Linda S. who said "My favorite landmark is fountain square. There is always so much activity going on there." Check your email Linda!  Thanks to everyone who entered!

My family loves books.  We go to the library at least once a week, sometimes more.  Right now we get to read a wide variety of books as a family...short, easy story books for Baby Girl...early readers for Middle Child (we have just started Bob Books which is how the Third Grader started reading.  I highly recommend them) and chapter books for the Third Grader.

We met Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, last week at Blue Manatee Children's Bookstore and Decafe.  I was thrilled that all of my kids knew who he was and appreciated meeting someone who wrote a book.

It's also fun to read a book set in your city or in a place you have been.  How cool is it to recognize landmarks and local places?  We were able to review a book by local author, Louise Borden, that was all about Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

'Cincinnati:  Our City, Our Story'

My kids loved reading this book.

Middle Child was very concerned about the Cincinnati Reds..."Hey, where are the Reds?"  And, we found them!

We also saw other local landmarks...

This book was developed by the Cincinnati Storyteller’s Project (a sub-group of the volunteers of C-Change Class 7) and written by Louise Borden.  Local artists Will Hillenbrand and C.F. Payne collaborated to created the cover artwork, and Blue Manatee Press donated services to publish the book. Local youth participated in a contest to help illustrate the story.  The result is a beautiful book full of creative and colorful pictures of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.  Each illustration lists the artist name and age, so it's fun for kids to see if the drawing was created by someone their age.
