Wow, the summer is going by fast! And, it's Monday already! Last week I was hooked reading "Momover: The New Mom's Guide to Getting It Back Together". Even though I am not a new mom, I love books like this. I love reading any type of tips or advice for moms on organization, makeovers, getting things done fast and things to just make you feel good.
This book was full of information. It referenced several other books and websites that were also helpful. One of the books, "The Food & Mood Cookbook: Recipes for Eating Well and Feeling Your Best" discussed how your moods, sleep and the way you feel are impacted by what you eat. This sounds obvious right? But, do you know what foods to eat to help you sleep better? Did you know the reason you crave pancakes, cereals, oatmeal and donuts in the morning is because your brain needs glucose after a night of sleep? But, there is a better way to get glucose than eating donuts. Don't get excited. I just threw that one in there. I loved this cookbook and pulled a couple recipes from it for this week.
Here is our menu for the week. I am participating in Menu Plan Monday with http://www.orgjunkie.com/. You can see over 200 other menus for the week on this site. If you need ideas for menu items, this is the place to start!
Monday: Saucy Meatloaf with garlic dill mashed potatoes (this is my grandma's meatloaf recipe. I'll do a post on it later this week)
Tuesday: Creamy Risotto with Wild Mushrooms and Fresh Thyme from The Food & Mood Cookbook
Wednesday: Ginger-Teriyaki Rice Bowls from The Food & Mood Cookbook
Thursday: Spaghetti with meat sauce and salad
Friday: Skillet Red Beans from The Kentucky Fresh Cookbook
Happy cooking!
The risotto sounds delicious! I haven't had a good risotto since my days working in the restaurant business....let me know how it turns out, I may need to borrow that recipe!
ReplyDeleteThe risotto was ok....Marcus and Meredith loved it! Todd hasn't tried it yet. I'll send you the recipe. Very easy!
