How do you store your LEGO®?
We used to keep ours in this bright red, blue and yellow tackle box. That worked pretty good for a while......

| It's even labelled! |
Our current methond is to toss them all in one big ole' lined basket.
I am proud of this method. Here is why. I bought the basket at my favorite place....the thrift store!! It cost a whopping $3. I washed the lining and it's ready to go. My kids are not into throwing the LEGO all over the room, so no lid is no problem. When we had the lid it was more of a pain because we'd find extra LEGO and have to unclamp the tackle box to throw in stray bricks. And, this basket looks nice in our living room.
Thanks to my friends at LEGO KidsFest, you could win a family 4-pack of tickets to LEGO KidsFest at the Duke Energy Convention Center for Friday March 23rd for the 4:00-8:30pm session. You do not have to arrive right at 4:00pm. You have three ways to enter:
Entry #1: Leave me a comment letting me know how you store your LEGO. Leave your email address with your comment.
Entry #2: "Like" the LEGO KidsFest page on Facebook. Leave me a comment with your email address telling me you did so.
Entry #3: "Like" I'm Living the Good Life on Facebook and leave me a comment telling me you did so. If you already like the page, just tell me in your comment. Make sure you leave your email address.
It's that easy! Start entering now because one lucky winner will be picked using http://www.random.org/ on Wednesday March 7th at 10:00pm. You do not want to miss any of the games, construction, demonstrations and creations of LEGOKidsFest! Here are just some of the fun events they will have:

I'm doing this for the family I nanny for - there is no storing of Legos. They are all dumped on the "Lego" table which used to be the train table. It actually works out pretty nicely, but I still find pieces all over the house!

ReplyDeleteWe store our Legos in bins. Randomly. No rhyme or reason. But the boys love to create their own Lego contraptions, so this works out perfectly.

Legos are in ziplock bags currently because that is the only thing my almost 2 year old daughter can't open....yet!!

I bought a three drawer plastic storage bin on wheels. One drawer is used for extras like wheels, propellers, etc. Works great!
ReplyDeletepack139cm@aol.com
Our Legos are generally stored all over the floor of almost every room in our home and in places like pants pockets and under the couch and . . . . Technically they are supposed to go into several very large rubbermaid totes but they don't always make it there. We have have tried several ways/systems but in the end they get mixed together.

Right now, we keep our LEGOs in two small bins, but I'm sure we'll grow out of those soon!

We store our LEGOs according to sets in box so we can find all the pieces when we have to rebuild.
ReplyDeleteMy email is melwagner9@yahoo.com - Sorry
DeleteOur LEGOs are in a giant LEGO head shaped container that the boys got for Christmas, from me - who has stepped on one too many teeny tiny pieces. My husband's LEGO's (yes, that's right) are stored in the basement in their shape (giant pirate ship, some Star Wars thing, etc) in giant Rubbermaid totes until "the boys are old enough to play with them without taking them apart", ie: when they are too old to care to play with them anymore.

We have a plastic "shoe" totes we picked up at the Local WalMart for about $1 apiece. They stack nicely on top of his toy box and he tends to go for them first since they are right on top. No color or sorting method (tried it and realized it was becoming a full-time job in itself).

ReplyDeleteI keep my son's LEGO sets in ziplock bags with the directions - that way they are easy to pull out and re-assemble! Spare parts are separated by size and stored in tupperware containers - this comes in handy if he is missing a piece in the bag (hey, it happens!) so it's easy to find a similar piece. Thanks! andrealeffler@gmail.com
