Chore Charts

What happened to those chore charts?  Allowance?  Used games at Game Stop?  Sound familiar?  Well, I haven't forgotten.  I've just been thinking...and thinking....and thinking some more.  How to get two crazy boys to do their chores, allowing me to do less.  Hmmmmm....it's not an easy task.  And, the charm of the vacuum is quickly disappearing.

First things first.  This place is a wreck!  It's just gotten out of hand.  Look at my sink.

In my defense, I did make homemade pancakes AND dinner for the kids in one setting.  Excuses, excuses, I know.

Now for a laugh, well, maybe you can laugh, but I just see myself in 36 years, let's look at baby girl's sink.

Oy, yoy, yoy she's in trouble!  Note to self: start chore chart for her next.

Anyhoo, back to the boys.  Yes, I made chore charts.  One for each boy.  They are 4 and 8, so each needed a different approach.  One can read, one cannot.  I do not want to read a chore chart to middle child every time he needs to take out the trash.  And, oh yes, he's taking out the trash.  So, here are the chore charts.

I'm not sure what he's thinking in this one....

PICTURES!!!  Jobs start in "To Do" and move to "Done" when they are complete.  In stead of "clean your room" I've broken the job into several tasks so he is not overwhelmed.  So far, so good.  And check out that level of responsibility.

NEXT!  We have a matrix and dry erase markers.  Check it off and you're done!  Read it yourself, bucko.

He looks so proud...kind of looks like a mug shot.  Seriously, could he look any more disgusted?
Both of these are laminated and hanging on the side of the fridge with markers.  Momma does not like anything on the front of the fridge.  Although, that might cover up the scratch and dent collection the kids have started on the bottom of the door.  Can I have anything nice??

But hey, they're not the only ones getting an allowance.  Apparently, someone left me a tip for all my hard work this week!

That was nice!  Right on the kitchen floor to make sure I didn't miss it.

  2. Oh I'm loving this blg entry. I had made some really nice chore charts last year and they kind of fell by the way side. Ravyn asked me the other day where they were- she wants to start using them again. She's excited, Blayke -not so much, and MARYN- like Meredith, is next. Messy kids! Good luck with yours!
