My First Post....

I’m finally doing it.  Writing.  I had a list of New Year’s resolutions this year that included:
  • Plant a garden
  • Spend more time with Meredith (poor baby #3 who doesn’t get near enough mommy time)
  • Write our will (morbid, I know)
  • Write!!!

I am slowly getting through the list.

I built a raised bed.  I (well, husband and I) filled it with dirt.  I planted some seeds and starter plants.  Success!!  I planted squash, zucchini, garlic, onions, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and swiss chard.  I’ve even harvested some!  Go me!!

I’ve spent more time with Meredith.  Poor Mer Mer.  I read to our first child all the time.  When he was 1 you could ask him “What’s that?” and he wouldn’t say “dinosaur”…he’d say “brontosaurus” or “pterodactyl”.   I point to our dog and ask Meredith “Who’s that?” and I get “Goggy!!”  We are working on it.

I started thinking about our will.  I guess I need to get it in writing that the kids will have to divide up our millions.  Haha.

The last item has been on my “to do” list forever.  Write.  I love to read.  I love to write.  So, I am finally doing it.  And, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

  5. I checked out your blog today and am excited to check out some of the recipes and sites you have mentioned.I too have been trying out some new recipes and am trying to do more from scratch. Time to cut out all of the additives and preservatives and actually taste the food! I am new to this stay at home mom stuff and transitioning slowly. My goal for next year is to plant a garden and learn how to can our own veggies. For now its fresh foods and made from scratch breads. Also, more time with the kiddos...what shall we do???

  6. Thank you for following my blog! We've always done a lot from scratch but what really kicked me into gear was watching Food Inc., last year. Yikes! After that we have only bought grass fed beef and organic chicken and eggs. And absolutely only organic milk. Too many hormones and antibiotics! Good for you!! We started small with the garden. Just tomatoe plants last year and this year we did a raised bed and added more vegetables. I really recommend the raised bed. Just make a rectangle with landscaping timbers ($1.99 at Home Depot!) and add dirt. Easy. I haven't done canning yet. Only freezing. Let me know how that goes! And, congrats on staying at home. It is hard work!
